Janome 8077 Sewing Machine

Janome 8077 Sewing Machine Review

Sewing Machine Capabilities

The Janome 8077 sewing machine has 30 built in stitches which is on the low end when compared to the stitch options available on other models covered in our sewing machine reviews, but stitch width is adjustable up to 7mm and length of stitch is adjustable up to 5mm. The most common and useful stitches are included, so you still have plenty of options for most projects.

Automatic features make projects flow easier and quicker, such as automatic needle threading, an automatic bobbin winder that stops when the bobbin is full and a drop-in, jam-proof bobbin system. For those who are just starting out, this removes the frustration of thread jams. This model also features horizontal top thread delivery, which can reduce thread breakage.

At 820 stitches per minute, the Janome 8077 ranks in the top of its class, well above the average. 6 different styles of button holes gives a number of options when it comes to design. With the adjustable tension, this model is able to sew through heavy materials, such as denim.

This model also has a speed control slider that is perfect for teaching young beginners, or just for someone who wants to take it slower.

The LCD screen is bright and easy to read. It shows stitch patterns and error codes when there is a problem with the unit. The standard design includes a sewing light, extension table, free arm, and built in thread cutter. A drop feed dog system gives the user the ability of free motion quilting, embroidery, or darning. Push button controls include a start/stop button, but one can also use the foot pedal if desired. The unit also includes a reverse button, auto lock button, and the choice of leaving the needle up or down. The ease of use that one experiences with the Jenome 8077 sewing machine is very one of it’s greatest selling points.

The 8077 weighs in at just under 20 pounds, so it isn’t considered a portable unit, but it is moveable. Using the foot pedal makes it more difficult to transport, due to the lack of carrying case.

Though there is no cover or case included, however there is a retractable carrying handle built into the unit. The machine’s accessories are rather limited, but some items can be purchased separately. Those included are:

  • A screwdriver
  • Bobbins
  • 3-pack of needles
  • Seam ripper
  • Spool pin
  • 2 spool holders
  • Spool stand
  • Felt
