Plus, 29 preset programs gives the rider plenty of exercise options. Though the maximum weight limit is only 300 pounds, it is still a good option for many people. 25 levels of resistance make for an intense workout as and when required. This unit is compact and lightweight, but sturdy and solid enough to provide a good workout over the long term.
Schwinn 470 Review
The Schwinn 470 elliptical has a step-up height of only 10-inches, making for easy-on, easy-off capability. The stride is 20 inches and is not adjustable, but this is around average compared to other models in our elliptical reviews, and will still offer a great workout regardless of your height.
With resistance levels of 25, this model is well above the average for other units in the same category. The resistance and incline of 10 degrees can be adjusted mid-workout with 5 easy access keys.
Though the flywheel weight on the Schwinn 470 elliptical is only 20 pounds, the unit is still sturdy and strong due to its build quality, oversized crossbar tubing, and centered frame support.
Schwinn 470 Elliptical – Workout Programs
There are 29 workout programs available in a wide variety of settings, including 12 workout programs, 9 heart rate programs, and 4 custom designed profiles. What sets this model apart is the 2 fitness tests, 1 recovery tests, and a quick start giving you the ability to gauge your progress as your fitness levels develop.
Monitoring
A high quality LCD screen projects data on backlit dual screens, making it easier to use the reading rack during your workout without having to move your book or tablet to look at your stats.
The Schwinn 470 elliptical boasts many monitoring and display features. This unit displays traditional data such as:
- Calories burned
- Resistance level
- Distance travelled
- Speed
- Time
Other, less common display features included are: Pulse, RPM, Heart Rate Zone, % completed, Intensity Meter and Goal Achievement. The heart rate monitor is available by gripping the sensors on the stationary handlebars. There is also a chest strap available for purchase, but it is not included in the unit, which is one drawback. Buttons on the console are large enough to press while you are in movement. One of the greatest monitoring features the Schwinn 470 elliptical trainer offers is the ability to connect with the MyFitnessPal app and the Schwinn Connect website. The details and stats of your workout, such as time, distance, and calories burned, are easily transferred to the app or website so that you can keep track and share your progress without having to manually enter the data.
Accessories
The Schwinn 470 elliptical has a three-speed fan to keep the rider cool during intense workouts and a water bottle holder to ensure that hydration is within reach at all times. There is also a UBS charging port for charging your mobile device while you work out.
